Ingredients
  • 750g phyllo dough
  • 500g butter
  • For the filling:
  • 6 eggs
  • 150g granulated sugar
  • 120g flour
  • 1 baking powder
  • 200g chopped walnuts
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • For the syrup:
  • 750g sugar
  • 1.200l water
  • A little citric acid
Preparation
  1. Divide the phyllo dough into two parts. Arrange half in a rectangular baking dish, brushing between layers with melted butter.
  2. Place the filling in the middle. For the filling: Beat the eggs with the sugar until pale. Add the flour with baking powder, walnuts, and cinnamon.
  3. Top with the remaining phyllo dough, brushed with butter. Cut the baklava into pieces and pour the remaining hot butter over it.
  4. Bake until golden brown. Once cooled, pour hot syrup over the baklava.
